Kaashimukthi offers thoughtful and respectful Sikh funeral services in Bangalore, conducted in accordance with the Sikh Rehat Maryada (the official Sikh code of conduct). We coordinate Antam Sanskar (last rites) with care, ensuring the soul’s journey is honoured with prayer, scripture, and dignity.
A Sikh funeral is known as Antim Sanskar, meaning “last rites” or “final sacrament.” It is the sacred set of ceremonies performed for a deceased Sikh in accordance with the official code of conduct established by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC).
In Sikhism, death is not mourned as a tragedy but accepted as Waheguru’s will (Bhana). The soul is believed to be on a continuous journey through the cycle of birth and death (Chaurasi Lakh), moving toward ultimate union with the Divine (Waheguru). Grief is natural, but Sikh funeral rites are designed to focus the community on prayer, gratitude, and surrender to God’s will rather than excessive lamentation.
Antam Sanskar includes the ritual washing and dressing of the body (with the Panj Kakars the Five Ks kept on at all times), the recitation of Ardas and Shabads (hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib Ji), a funeral procession, cremation (Dah Sanskar), and the concluding Bhog ceremony at the Gurdwara. An Akhand Path the continuous, uninterrupted reading of the entire Guru Granth Sahib Ji is often arranged before or after the cremation.
The Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the eternal living Guru of the Sikhs, and its presence and recitation are central to all funeral rites. Kaashimukthi coordinates with Granthis and Gurdwaras to ensure the Antam Sanskar is conducted with full religious adherence and deep reverence.
I recommended Kaashimukthi to my friend who has to organize a funeral for his relative. i knew that my friend needed someone who would provide end-to-end service and would not leave any gaps in the work that they do. That is why Kaashimukthi seemed like the perfect choice for him.
I was initially very confused about where to begin. It is a very overwhelming time and the last thing you would want to do is face the hassles of organizing everything. Kaashimukthi made it all so much easy.
Kaashimukthi truly loves up to its name . There empathy and compassionate approach at the time of grief is admirable . Mr Madhu , the CEO himself stepped in to help us at odd hours . There service is excellent and they ensure to provide you with everything end to end . Highly recommend.
Thank you for helping my friend for funeral services in Bangalore and my friend Amala was very happy with you and your services, Madhu sir thank you once again.

The Sikh approach to death is one of acceptance and gratitude death is seen as returning to Waheguru (God). Antam Sanskar follows the Sikh Rehat Maryada closely.
1. Bathing & Dressing (Ishnaan)
The body is washed and dressed in clean clothes. The Five Ks (Panj Kakars) Kesh, Kanga, Kara, Kachera, and Kirpan must remain on the body at all times.
2. Ardas & Kirtan
Family and the community gather for Ardas (prayer) and the singing of Shabads (hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib). The Granthi leads the congregation in prayer.
3. Path (Scripture Reading)
Passages from the Guru Granth Sahib Ji are read aloud. A full Akhand Path (continuous reading of the entire Guru Granth Sahib) may be arranged.
4. Antam Ardas (Final Prayer)
Before the funeral procession, a final Ardas is offered, accepting Waheguru’s will and praying for the soul’s union with the Divine.
5. Cremation (Dah Sanskar)
Sikhs practice cremation. The eldest son or a close family member traditionally lights the pyre. Electric or gas cremation is widely accepted. Embalming and burial are generally not practised.
6. Bhog & Kirtan
After the cremation, the family returns to the Gurdwara for Bhog (conclusion of the Path) and Kirtan. Langar (community meal) is served to all.
7. Asthi Visarjan (Immersion of Ashes)
The ashes (asthi) are immersed in a flowing river, often the Ganges, Beas, or Sutlej. Kaashimukthi can assist with transportation and immersion arrangements.
